Enjoy a break soaking up the famous sights of Bruges. Step back in time, travel to Bruges and discover the most delightful little city of canals and bridges, medieval Flemish architecture, cobbled streets and gabled guild houses. Bruges, the most perfectly preserved medieval town in Europe has a unique atmosphere. Stroll by one of the canals, you could almost be in Venice, in fact Bruges is also known as ‘Venice of the North’, sip a coffee in the Old Market or take a gentle trip around the town by horse and carriage. For art lovers there are three excellent museums housing many fine works by Dutch and Flemish artists including Van Eyck, Rembrandt, and many more.
Day 1: An early departure from your local joining point, to continue the journey to Bruges for our stay at the Hotel Academie.
Day 2: We have included a canal cruise of Bruges this morning with the rest of the day at leisure. Known as the ‘little Venice of the North, it is easy to see why Bruges has its reputation as a city of romance. There are quaint cobbled streets and canals, an array of restaurants, bars and cafes, shops selling their famous Belgian chocolate on almost every corner, and a wealth of museums.
Day 3: Today we make the journey to Ypres, where we enjoy a walking tour. We will hear stories and interesting facts about this medieval city from our entertaining guide. We then have free time to explore at leisure. Why not visit the excellent and moving Flanders Field Museum before enjoying lunch in the main square with its many cafes and restaurants.
Day 4: We depart our hotel and head to Oostende for free time before making our way back to Norfolk arriving your local joining point mid-evening.
