Experience magic, myth and wonder with a Scottish Highlands holiday, this glorious slice of Scotland is everything you dreamed it would be; rolling parklands with imposing lakes and breathtaking vistas of green might spring to mind, but there’s surprises too with its historical facets and welcoming villages.

Celebrate the festive season with a superb scenic holiday travelling over the pass of Drumochter to our base at Newtonmore and The Highlander Hotel. A favourite with our passengers, Newtonmore is a well-established village nestling in the upper reaches of the Spey Valley, within the Cairngorm National Park. During our holiday our day tours will take us via Laggan to Spean Bridge, famously known as Monarch of the Glen country.

In this beautiful area of the Highlands, the towering peaks of the Cairngorms meet the clear running waters of the Spey Valley. It’s an ideal location for exploring the snowcapped hills and scenic trails that make this area of Scotland so appealing.

Festive program subject to change due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we make our way North to our overnight hotel. Dinner this evening will be a three course meal.

Day 2: We depart after breakfast and continue North through the ever changing scenery. We make our way to Newtonmore and the Highlander Hotel for our four night stay and the Christmas festivities. On arrival we are greeted with a mug of Brandy laced hot chocolate and a wee bit of shortbread. Before dinner, we enjoy a punch cocktail in the bar or lounge while you meet the staff, management and fellow guests, followed by a candlelit dinner and entertainment.

Day 3: Christmas Eve - Firstly today is a hearty Scottish breakfast, followed by a scenic drive through the Spey Valley. We will ascend the Cairngorm Mountains, the views are quite simply breathtaking! There will be time to visit the Ptarmigan restaurant, the viewing terrace, exhibition and shop. This will be followed by free time in Aviemore on our return to the hotel. Dinner tonight is the Hotel’s traditional highland night consisting of a 5 – course meal including the piping in of the locally caught Haggis and a “Wee Dram” followed by this evening’s entertainment. If he has time, we also hope to have a visit from Santa and his team of Reindeer on his way to work. At about 11:15 you will be made very welcome at the village Church of Scotland where you can join the Midnight Service, on return, hot mince pies and mulled wine will be served.

Day 4: Christmas Day - To begin this special day we have a full Scottish Breakfast but remember to leave room for the gourmet delights, which awaits you for both lunch and dinner. Enjoy the rest of the morning opening your gifts and relaxing. We gather in the dining room and enjoy traditional Christmas Lunch; maybe Santa will pay us another visit!!. After lunch why not have a stroll round the village or if you feel the need to have a bit more exercise have a brisk walk up into Glen Banchor and enjoy the spectacular scenery or you could retire to the cosy, comfortable lounge. This evening’s dinner, if you can manage it, will be a full cold meat buffet followed by Christmas cake. Dance the night away under the canopy of twinkling lights with the entertainment provided.

Day 5: Boxing Day - We join our coach after a full Scottish Breakfast and take a chance to take in some of the scenery that the area is famous for. If you were one of the many viewers of the BBC comedy drama “Monarch of the Glen”, you will recognise some of the locations from the series. We return to the hotel for a light lunch before we depart for the pantomime in Inverness “OH YES WE DO!”. Entertainment follows Tonight's farewell dinner. You will be put through your paces to see if you have mastered the Scottish dances yet!

Day 6: We depart for Norfolk where our door to door service will be waiting to return you home.
