Saturday 3rd – Friday 9th July 2021
Travelling by rail is a great way to see spectacular sceneries of Scottish Highlands. Our coach holidays featuring railways will take you on the best rail journeys in Scotland, including the spectacular Kyle Line Railway, Strathspey Steam Railway, and of course the famous West Highland Line with the amazing Jacobite Steam Train.
Day 1: Following your home taxi pick up we make our way north to our overnight hotel, arriving in plenty of time to freshen up before our evening meal.
Day 2: After breakfast, we journey further north through the ever changing scenery for our five night stay at The Highlander hotel on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.
During your stay, we include 3 excursions and one day at leisure:
Kyle Of Lochalsh, Kyle Line & Eilean Donan Castle
We make our way to Eilean Donan Castle, one of the most iconic images of Scotland, Eilean Donan is recognised all around the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet and surrounded by some majestic scenery. We board the Kyle Line train at Inverness for a journey through some dramatic scenery climbing over the Highlands. It is a little wonder Michael Palin described this journey as “one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world”.
This excursion takes us south west along the shore of Loch Laggan and through Glen Spean to Fort William. Here we have another train journey, this time by steam train on the famous ‘JACOBITE’ along the celebrated West Highland Line to Mallaig. This spectacular line passes hidden lochs and inlets, silver sands, and crosses the magnificent Glenfinnan Viaduct on its way west. Mallaig is a major fishing port and we have time to wander around the harbour and explore before we catch the train for the return journey to Fort William, where we rejoin the coach for the ride back to Kingussie
Aviemore, Cairngorms & Strathspey Railway
Today we board the Strathspey Steam Railway and travel through unspoilt Highland scenery. Enjoy the nostalgia on board the relaxing heritage railway travelling from Aviemore to Broomhill through the stunning Cairngorm National Park and Boat of Garten station. On arrival, we board our coach and return to our hotel for an afternoon at leisure.
Day 7: We bid farewell and return to Norfolk where our door to door taxi service will be waiting to take you home.
