Day 1: Joining the coach rom a convenient local joining point, we travel to the Durley Dean Hotel in Bournemouth, for a four night stay.
Day 2: Leaving the hotel, we have an excursion to the Isle of Purbeck and Swanage, passing through Corfe Castle on the way. Swanage is located at the eastern end of the Jurassic Coast, a 95 mile stretch of outstanding geology in between Dorset and East Devon which is a World Heritage Site. Later we continue to Poole. With the harbour a haven for sailors, wildlife and watersports and is a gateway to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Poole is also home of the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) and their training college with hotel and restaurant is located right on the harbours edge. Explore the treasures of Poole’s historic quayside, delve deep into the heart of the old town where sea captains and pirates once stood and immerse yourself in Poole’s fascinating history.
Day 3: Today enjoy a relaxing ride through the New Forest. Firstly, we stop in Lyndhurst, known as the capital of The New Forest since William the Conqueror established it as a royal hunting ground in 1079. Situated at the top of the High Street, sits the impressive gothic parish church of St Michael and All Angels. In the graveyard can be found the grave of one of the New Forest’s famous residents, Alice Pleasance Liddell. Alice was the little girl who inspired Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ and ‘Through the Looking Glass’. We continue through the New Forest to Christchurch. The historic Priory Church and Castle ruins help give an olde world charm to the attractive, bustling town centre with its range of independent shops, high street stores.
Day 4: Day at leisure to explore Bournemouth.
Day 5: We depart the hotel after breakfast for the journey to Norfolk, and your chosen joining point.
