Tree, Robin Hood, Landscape, England

Day 1: From your local joining point, we make our way to the centre of Nottingham to meet our guide for an informative 90 minute walking tour of the city. We uncover the history of Nottingham, it’s local dialect, culture and cuisine, a selection of Nottingham’s finest buildings and some pretty famous people and their connection with Nottingham with some surprises along the way. It’s an easy walk and there is plenty of time to take photos and ask questions. Following some free time, we continue to the hotel for our three night stay.

Day 2: This morning we make our way to Kelham Hall, a beautiful stately home considered a masterpiece of Victorian Gothic architecture, set within stunning parkland gardens. We enjoy a tour A of this ancestral home of the Manners-Sutton family. We also enjoy tea/coffee & biscuits during our visit. We depart for Newark to visit the bustling market, perfectly positioned in a beautiful Georgian square lined with historic buildings and once the centre for the wool and cloth trades. In the afternoon we have a relaxing two hour cruise whilst enjoying an afternoon tea.

Day 3: This morning we enjoy an adventure at Sherwood Forest New Visitor Centre legendary home to Robin Hood, one of the world’s best loved folk heroes. We follow a trail through the forest to discover its most famous ancient resident, the Major Oak Tree. With a canopy spread of 28 metres, this amazing tree is the oldest oak in Britain and fabled to have been used as a shelter for Robin and his Merry Men. In the afternoon we continue to Southwell Workhouse. This rural workhouse was designed to house around 160 inmates. They lived and worked in a strictly segregated environment with virtually no contact between the old and infirm, able-bodied men and women and children.

Day 4: After breakfast, we depart the hotel heading to Rutland. We board the ‘Rutland Belle’ and settle down with refreshments before setting sail on the 45-minute cruise. We continue to Stamford with a chance to explore and obtain lunch. We depart for Norfolk and your chosen joining point.
