Day 1: From your local joining point we join our luxury tour coach and make our way to Holmfirth in Yorkshire. Sitting in the heart of the breath-taking Holme Valley, this picture-postcard town is popular with walkers and wildlife lovers alike and is the renowned location of the TV classic Last of the Summer Wine. The town is jam packed with fantastic independent businesses and is well worth a visit! Whilst we are here you may fancy a coffee in Sid’s café or grab the opportunity for a photo outside of Nora Batty’s house. We then continue across the Pennines to our hotel in Altrincham, arriving late afternoon.
Day 2: After a leisurely breakfast, we board our coach and depart for Salford Quays, where you will have free time to explore. Maybe visit The Lowry art gallery, or head into The Imperial War Museum North. This striking building is free to explore, and features innovative exhibits which show how lives have been shaped by war in the 20th & 21st century. For those of you who like to shop, the outlet mall offers a huge range of shops with hefty discounts.
This afternoon we make our way to the ITV studios for our Coronation Street Tour. The Tour, gives you the chance to explore the sensational outdoor set at MediaCityUK, Manchester, the live working production set where the show is filmed. In this 90 minute tour, you’ll get access externally to all of the street’s most recognisable places. Stroll past the Roy’s Rolls Café or check out Kev’s car shop, Webster’s Auto Centre. Wander past The Kabin, see the most action-packed pub in the North West, The Rovers Return and even Weatherfield North as you explore Coronation Streets’ famous cobbles. The Tour is the perfect attraction for any fan of the soap and a hugely entertaining day out.
Day 3: Sadly this morning we depart our hotel and make our way to Trentham Gardens. The gardens have been transformed over the last 15 years and are now some of the some of the finest in Britain with the revival being led by multi-Chelsea gold-medal winner Tom Stuart-Smith. The Italian Garden planting is designed within the historic framework of Sir Charles Barry’s original Italianate Garden of the 19th Century and the transformation was one of the largest contemporary perennial plantings in Europe. This fantastic revival of the gardens led the Telegraph newspaper to describe Trentham Gardens as ‘The garden makeover of the decade’. The gardens lie against a backdrop of historic parkland and Capability Brown designed lake where you can enjoy the circular lakeside walk all the way round as it takes you aside the River Trent, by the bird hide, through the cascading weir and along atmospheric trails, featuring vast meadow schemes by Nigel Dunnett and the team who were responsible for the stunning wildflower plantings at the Olympic Park. Afterwards there will be time to explore the shopping village where there is an extensive garden centre, as well as over 80 timber lodges of independent and highstreet retailers. We then head back to Norfolk and our local joining points.
