The Yorkshire Dales is an area of great natural beauty and a wonderful place to visit on a coach holiday. This area was designated as a national park in 1954 because of its beautiful rolling countryside, amazing wildlife and cultural heritage.

Consisting of over twenty main dales, all of which vary in character and atmosphere, its breath-taking scenery is why people return year after year.

We have included some real Yorkshire gems on this tour including the magnificent Castle Howard. We discover the history of this stunning stately home before exploring seaside Whitby, with its quirky cobbled streets, famous 199 steps to the Gothic Whitby Abbey, and connections to Captain Cook and Dracula.

Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we join our luxury tour coach and make our way North  to our hotel for the next 4 nights, the 3 Star Burn Hall hotel, on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2: This morning we discover Castle Howard, one of the premier stately homes of England, Castle Howard is a baroque masterpiece, more palace than house, conceived by Charles Howard, 3rd Earl of Carlisle, and executed by Sir John Vanbrugh from 1699. The house stands within 1000 acres of parkland and formal gardens, where peacocks roam. The setting is idyllic, but it is the house itself that draws the eye. Castle Howard is centred on a striking dome, with two wings enclosing a courtyard. To the north, the ground falls away to a large lake, to the south, formal gardens share space with more water features and several glorious follies. Admire the awe-inspiring architecture and world-renowned collections and uncover more about the rich 300 year history of the Howard family and the estate. As one of Britain's grandest stately homes and the largest house in Yorkshire, the house has featured on screen and is well known as the filming location of Brideshead Revisted and more recently Bridgerton. Later, we make our way to Thirsk. As well as being a traditional Yorkshire market town, Thirsk was also the home of renowned fictional vet, James Herriot (real name Alf White, whose veterinary practice was in the town). Boasting the spectacular backdrops of the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, it’s no wonder this much-loved author was so inspired living and working here. There will be plenty of time to explore the town, or for those who wish to, you could visit the world of James Herriot (entry not included).

Day 3: This morning we make our way to York. Firstly we enjoy a cruise on the river Ouse where you will discover more about all York’s history, as well as picking up some local knowledge, thanks to live, on-board commentary from the home-grown skippers. After our cruise, there will be time to visit the many attractions that York has to offer. Founded by the Romans and featuring the magnificent 13th century York Minster at its centrepiece, the city features some breath-taking architecture, make sure you bring a camera! With quaint cobbled streets and welcoming taverns alongside its vibrant café scene, York offers the perfect contrast of old and new.

Day 4: Today we head to Heartbeat Country. Our first stop is Pickering where we join the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a ride across the moors as we make our way to the historic seaport of Whitby, with its ruined Abbey atop the cliff overlooking the busy harbour. We have the rest of the day at leisure in Whitby before making our way back to our hotel for our final evening.

Day 5: Sadly this morning we depart our hotel and make our way back to Norfolk making suitable stops along the way. We re-join our door to door taxi service who will be waiting to take you home.
