Monday 30th September - Friday 4th Ocotber 2024
Join us on this 5 day holiday to Blackpool, widely regarded as Britain’s most popular seaside resort. Take a trip up the famous Blackpool Tower, which stands at 158 metres over the town, or stroll down the newly renovated South Promenade. Discover contemporary artwork by pop artist Sir Peter Blake and the glittery spectacle that is the world’s largest Mirror Ball in the Great Promenade Show. The magnificent Winter Gardens have a fantastic programme of unmissable events from award-winning West End to big-name music concerts, as well as the Blackpool Grand Theatre. The theatre is full of character and life with a diverse range of productions suitable for all ages.
On this tour you will also enjoy the famous Blackpool Illuminations! These world-famous lights need little introduction. Well known for being the greatest free light show on Earth, the Blackpool illuminations feature over a million bulbs to create a dazzling spectacle of lights that stretch from Starr Gate to Bispham.
Each year the Blackpool illuminations team work tirelessly to create a new and different display that will continue to keep you coming back to Blackpool.
Day 1: After our door to door service we travel north to Blackpool, arriving late afternoon at the Imperial Hotel for our 4 nights stay on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.
Day 2: Today we begin with a guided tour of the magnificent Samlesbury Hall, a half-timbered medieval house built in 1325. We will explore the 700-year-old house from the parlour to the Great Hall, discovering its secrets like the hidden priest hole, used for hiding Catholic priests in Elizabeth I's reign, and learning the story of Janey the (alleged) witch. Later, we continue our day with a ride to the attractive resort of Southport. There will be time to wander the town and have lunch and perhaps visit the model railway village.
Day 3: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before having a free day to explore and enjoy Blackpool. Take a trip up the famous Blackpool Tower, which stands at 158 metres over the town, or stroll down the newly renovated South Promenade. Discover contemporary artwork by pop artist Sir Peter Blake and the glittery spectacle that is the world’s largest Mirror Ball in the Great Promenade Show - there is lots to see and do. After dinner, join us as we enjoy a ride along the seafront to view the famous illuminations. The world-famous Illuminations need little introduction. There are six miles of traditional festoons and tableaux along the Promenade, featuring over a million bulbs to create a dazzling spectacle of lights. It’s no wonder it’s commonly known as the greatest free light show on Earth!
Day 4: Todays excursion takes us to Lancaster, one of England’s ‘Heritage Cities’. During our visit you could visit Lancaster’s castle and museums to uncover the city’s ancient stories hidden in its walls and buildings or spend time on the high street or watching the world go by in a café or a park. This afternoon we then travel to the seaside town of Morecambe. Stroll along Morecambe’s award-winning promenade with an ice cream and enjoy the views across the bay or perhaps visit the boutique stores and gift shops along the Promenade.
