Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we travel to Shap Wells hotel in the Lake District, arriving late afternoon for a 4 night stay.
Day 2: This morning, after a leisurely breakfast, we travel to Windermere for our first guided walking tour of the holiday, which will last approximately 2 hours. We will then have free time to explore. Perhaps enjoy a stroll through the town and down the hillside to the village of Bowness on the shores of the lake. This afternoon we make the short journey to Ambleside where you will have free time to explore at your leisure. Situated at the northern end of Windermere, Ambleside is perfectly located in the heart of the national park. Surrounded by majestic Lakeland fells, Ambleside’s roots are in the medieval woollen trade, but the town you see today is primarily Victorian, built of traditional grey slate. Described by purists as ‘the true Lake District’, Ambleside is a walkers’ paradise. Plenty of routes begin from near the Waterhead Pier, so why not grab a copy of Windermere Lake Cruises’ handy walkers leaflet and explore the local area.
Day 3: Today our guide will meet us at the hotel and join us for the day as we travel to the North Lakes for a gentle stroll around Glenridding and Ullswater. Once again, there will be many extraordinary photo opportunities for you to take! From here, we will make our way to Keswick where you will have time to explore and grab some lunch. Situated between the huge bulk of Skiddaw and the gentle beauty of Derwentwater, this pretty market town offers a wide range of attractions for visitors, from shops and restaurants to museums with a difference, and boating trips around lake Derwentwater. (attractions subject to individual choice and payment)
On our way back to the hotel we will stop at the famous Penrith castle to view and take some beautiful pictures of the fantastic scenery
Day 4: This morning, you will visit beautiful Kendal. The town boasts two castles, two museums and a host of historical buildings and bridges, and the views would please the most demanding photographer. This market town is a delight to explore and is home to the famous Kendal Mint Cake! This afternoon, we will continue by travelling to Grasmere. Nestling at the foot of some spectacular fells and with its own lake, this village has many shops, pubs and cafes. You can also visit Wordsworth's grave in the churchyard and buy the legendary Grasmere Gingerbread.
Day 5: Sadly this morning we depart our hotel and make our way back to Norfolk where our door to door taxi service will be waiting to return you home.
