Day 1: From your local joining point we travel to the North East, arriving at the Copthorne Newcastle Hotel for our 3 night stay on a dinner, bed & breakfast. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be served on arrival.
Day 2: Today, we enjoy the day at leisure in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Just a short walk from the hotel are bars, restaurants and the famous Quayside where you could enjoy a river cruise on the tyne (not included). The city centre isn’t far away either, with plenty of shopping and places to visit. Later, we return back to the hotel for an early dinner before heading to Bishop Auckland where we join Kynren – an epic tale of England.
Taking place on a vast landscaped stage with a huge lake at its centre hiding a host of surprises, you’ll meet many of the characters and events that have shaped England.
With 29 scenes encompassing the Roman occupation to World War II, history will unfold in front of your eyes, thanks to a cast and crew of almost 1,500 performing on a vast open-air stage. The scale of the show must be seen to be believed.
Spectacular sets appearing as if by magic, mass choreography and fierce battles are illuminated with dazzling special effects, effervescent lighting and pyrotechnics, set to a spine-tingling original score which you’ll experience in movie-like surround sound.
**Kynren is an outdoor show, so it is important that passengers bring appropriate clothing for the weather**
Day 3: After a leisurely breakfast we make our way to the Beamish Museum Open Air Museum. Beamish is a living, working museum, set in 350 acres of beautiful Durham countryside. Costumed folk bring to life 1820s Pockerley Old Hall and Landscape, 1900s Town, 1900s Pit Village, 1940s Farm, 1950s Town and 1950s Spain’s Field Farm. Here you will discover fascinating stories of everyday life in the North East through time. Be immersed in this multi-award winning museum as you try delicious, freshly-made bread in the Edwardian Bakery, hop aboard a tram, have your hair done in a 1950s style and discover what life was like on the Home Front during the Second World War. Say hello to the pit ponies in their stables, admire unforgettable Georgian views and have your portrait taken in the Edwardian photographers' studio.
Day 4: After a leisurely breakfast, we check-out and depart, arriving back in Norfolk and your chosen joining point.
