On this tour, you will enjoy the magnificent countryside of North Yorkshire and the beautiful historic houses of Nunnington & Beningbrough Hall. It includes time in pretty market towns and, of course, the cathedral city of York – the capital of North Yorkshire.

Day 1: Following your home taxi collection, we join our luxury touring coach and head North to Yorkshire and the City of York. Our hotel for the next for 4 nights is the 3 star Queens Hotel, on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2: This morning we visit Pickering. This picturesque town is steeped in history and brimming with character, offering a unique blend of old-world charm and modern amenities. From its beautifully preserved 13th-century castle to its historic market place, Pickering is a place where the past comes alive. From William the Conqueror to Oliver Cromwell and Harry Potter, several notable historical and fictional characters have graced the town of Pickering throughout the years adding to its rich tapestry.  As far as small towns go in North Yorkshire, there will be few, if any, that boast a castle, a heritage railway and a church with world-renown frescoes; all of which attract thousands of visitors.

Our next destination is Nunnington Hall, a picturesque Yorkshire manor house. The sheltered walled garden on the bank of the River Rye, with its delightful mixed borders, orchards of traditional fruit varieties and spring-flowering meadows, complements this mellow 17th-century manor house. From the magnificent oak-panelled hall, three staircases lead to the family rooms, the nursery, the haunted room and the attics, with their fascinating Carlisle collection of miniature rooms fully furnished to reflect different periods. The Hall also hosts a programme of high profile art and photography exhibitions across the year.

This afternoon, we head to the edge of the North York Moors National Park and the market town of Helmsley where we stop for the rest of the afternoon. There’s plenty to do in the town, from fascinating attractions including the National Centre for Birds of Prey, Helmsley Castle, Helmsley Arts Centre and the Walled Gardens, to award-winning eateries and the town’s very own Brewery. (attractions in Helmsley subject to individual choice and payment)

Day 3: Our excursion this morning takes us to the city of Ripon. Set in the glorious North Yorkshire countryside, Ripon is a city where the spectacular cathedral has been a centre of inspiration & wonder for 1350 years. The huge market square is dominated by a giant obelisk which proudly sits in its centre and has done since 1702 when it was designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor.

We have time for a drink and a bite to eat before we are on our way for our next visit, to the beautiful Beningbrough Hall, Gallery and Gardens - a place of reinvention, evolving gardens, changing art exhibitions and a country house with a story spanning over 300 years.

Relax in the walled garden or stroll among glorious borders and explore 8 acres of the beautiful gardens which are maintained by the National Trust. For history lovers, step inside and uncover the architecture of this grand hall. The ground floor historic rooms tell the story of a country house. Through the people of the estate and key collection items, find out about different periods of time and pockets of history and their influence on what you see today. Don’t miss the second-hand book room in the library, take time out and browse the shelves or head to the Victorian laundry and potting shed for views of a time gone by.

Day 4: You will have the day to explore this fascinating city, and with so much to see and do, you will be spoilt for choice! You could visit the National Railway Museum or Jorvik Centre, walk the City Walls, explore the little streets and alleyways in the centre, and not forgetting the magnificent Minster. If you fancy tea & cakes, why not head to the famous Betty’s Tea Rooms. Late afternoon we return to the hotel.

Day 5: Sadly this morning we depart our hotel and head to the City of Lincoln where we have some free time, before re-joining our coach to make the journey back to Norfolk. Upon our arrival our door to door taxi service will be waiting to take you home.
