Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we join our luxury tour coach and head north to the Lake District making suitable stops en route. During our stay we have 4 nights dinner, bed & breakfast, two nights of entertainment, 3 free drinks per day (maximum of 2 alcoholic beverages), 3 packed lunches.
Day 2: Today we travel via the southern shores of Lake Windermere to Hawkshead. This tiny village is still the same collection of higgledy-piggledy houses, archways, and squares beloved by William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. We take a break here to explore. Perhaps visit the Beatrix Potter Gallery or see where William Wordsworth went to school. We return to Grange-over-Sands passing through Coniston and along Coniston Water. (A packed lunch is included today).
Day 3: This morning we take a scenic drive around Morecambe Bay to Leighton Hall. This impressive grade two listed stately building is the lived-in home of the famous Gillow furniture making dynasty. A visit to Leighton is an opportunity to unravel the fascinating past of this ancient, Lancashire family, to wander through the pretty gardens and explore the stunning house. Leighton Hall is famous for its Objets d’art, fabulous pieces of Gillow furniture and has no roped off areas. The friendly and enthusiastic guides will be happy to share with you the magic of Leighton Hall's colourful heritage and unique personality.
This afternoon we travel to the Cumbrian market town of Kendal, home of the famous ‘mint cake’. Full of historic character, Kendal hosts a web of interweaving alleyways and cobbled yards. Whilst the ruins of medieval Kendal castle stand on Castle Hill, with great views over the town. A home to passionate artisans, if you love food and drink, you’ll love Kendal. (A packed lunch is included today).
Day 4: Following a full English breakfast, our first stop of the day brings us to Keswick. This busy market town is a northern gem in the Lake District with a never ending list of things to do and places to explore. Known for its historic landmarks, iconic walks, picturesque views and friendly ambience, Keswick is the perfect place to explore. One of the most beautiful stretches of water in the Lakes is situated nearby. Derwentwater is surrounded by woodland, bays and fells. You can easily walk around the whole lake, take a boat ride on it and walk to the shore in less than 10 minutes from Keswick town centre. (boat trip not included).
This afternoon we head to Grasmere, perhaps best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found." Set alongside Grasmere Lake, Grasmere is shrouded by a panorama of fells and mountains that provide the atmosphere so beloved of Wordsworth and the Romantic poets. Nestling at the foot of some spectacular fells and with its own lake, this village has many shops, pubs and cafes. You can also visit Wordsworth's grave in the churchyard and or maybe treat yourself to some legendary Grasmere Gingerbread.
After free time we continue through Ambleside on our return to the Hotel. (A packed lunch is provided today).
Day 5: After breakfast we make our way back to Norfolk making suitable stops en route. Upon arrival our taxi service will be waiting to take you home.
