Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we make our way to the south coast to board the ferry to the Isle of Wight. Upon arrival, we make the short journey to the Trouville Hotel in Sandown, for our five night stay on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.
Day 2: Today we are joined by a professional guide for a coach tour around the island. Littered with picturesque villages, bustling towns and historic delights, your guide will provide you with an insight into the rich historical heritage of the island. Free time will be provided for coffee and lunch breaks throughout the day.
Day 3: This morning, we head to the popular resort of Ryde, with its golden sand and views across the Solent. Ryde's pier is the second-longest seaside pier in the country. Only Southend's is longer. The original wooden structure at Ryde opened in 1814. At 1,740 feet, it allowed ferries to berth even at low tide, when the sea retreats half-a-mile from the shore. It was extended in 1824, and reached its present length of nearly 1/2 mile by 1842. We later head to Haven Street and the Isle of Wight Steam Railway for a return journey. Hauled by a vintage steam locomotive, we enjoy a special journey back in time. The evocative smells of a steam railway, along with the sound of the puffing and hissing of the steam engine, entice us to settle back in beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian carriages while enjoying a unique view of some of the Island’s unspoilt countryside.
Day 4: Today is a day of leisure to explore Sandown. Sandown proudly lies on the Southern coast of the Isle of Wight, and is famously known for its superb sandy beaches, mile upon mile of stunning countryside and coastal walks. The safe sandy beach frames the impressive white cliffs, which contrast with the rich blue sea and traditional pier. On the High Street you will find a wide variety of wonderful shops. You can stop by the rock shop and pick up some sweet treats and delicious fudge – the lemon meringue fudge is a favourite! Or stop by at Dinosaur Isle, Britain’s first purpose-built dinosaur museum, take a step back through fossilised time and discover lifelike dinosaur models and skeletons.
Day 5: Today we make our way to Osborne House, the home of Queen Victoria. Queen Victoria spent a great deal of time at this wonderful home, and since her death little has been changed there, with many of the royal couple’s possessions, photographs and paintings still in place. Don’t miss the stunning gardens surrounding the property, they are a must-see!
Day 6: After breakfast we catch the ferry back to the South Coast, continuing to Norfolk with suitable stops en-route. Upon arrival, our door to door service will be waiting to take you home.
