Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we join our luxury tour coach and head south to Basingstoke making suitable stops enroute. Upon arrival we will be greeted with complimentary tea/coffee whilst your luggage is delivered to your rooms.
Day 2: After a leisurely breakfast, we head to Mottisfont House and Gardens. This former priory has an incomparable beauty, and is full of delights and surprises. Discover a wealth of creativity, conflict, love and loss as the house is brought to life through a changing array of exhibitions. 20th century society hostess Maud Russell hosted numerous events here, with guests including The Churchills, Ian Fleming and the Bloomsbury Group. Outside, carpets of spring bulbs and the walled gardens create a feast for the senses.
Later we make our way to Winchester for an afternoon at leisure. Popular for its bustling shopping streets, Winchester is best known for its eleventh century Cathedral and for the Great Hall which for over 700 years has housed the mysterious King Arthur's Round Table.
Day 3: Our excursion today takes us to Portsmouth, the Great Waterfront City – packed with world-class attractions and fantastic things for you to explore. Why not visit the Spinnaker Tower, or perhaps the historic dockyards (admission not included). What's more, Portsmouth is a very compact city, and twinned with the island's flat profile - makes it easy to walk wherever you want to go. The day is yours
Day 4: This morning we journey into the South Downs National Park, where we visit the Weald & Downland living museum. On the site there is a heritage blacksmith, craft demonstrations, a Tudor kitchen, a mill and traditional working farm. You may also recognise it as the venue of the BBC’s Repair Shop. With over 50 historic buildings & period gardens, the museum truly allows you to immerse yourself in the past and experience over 1000 years of history.
This afternoon we head back into Hampshire, as we head to the small village of Chawton and the home of Jane Austen. We have included a visit to Jane Austens House, where she wrote or revised all of her novels. You can also see the Chawton House Library where Jane's brother, Edward Knight lived.
Day 5: Sadly we depart our hotel and make our way back to Norfolk, where we find our door to door taxi service awaiting to return us to our homes.
