Day 1: Following your home taxi service, you will join our luxury tour coach and we will make our way north to the four star Dryfesdale County House Hotel in Lockerbie for our overnight stay.
Day 2: This morning we depart our overnight hotel and head to Stirling, the site of Scotland’s great battles of independence. See the Wallace monument, magnificent Stirling Castle (entrance not included) plus the cobbled streets of the old town. After our stop, we continue our journey North, to Beauly, arriving late afternoon at the Priory Hotel, for our 4 night stay on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.
Day 3: Today we enjoy a memorable trip on one of the world’s most scenic rail journeys on the Kyle Line, the Great Highland Railway Journey. The train weaves its way through the Highlands and down to the Kyle of Lochalsh, close to the Isle of Skye. Crystal clear lochs mirror the forests and mountains on this wonderful journey. The views from the carriage windows are worth the fare alone!, but the experience is thankfully repeated on the return to Beauly in our luxury coach.
Day 4: Today is at leisure in Beauly. Beauly's name is thought to come from the words of Mary Queen of Scots when she visited in 1564 and commented 'C'est un beau lieu' (what a beautiful place). Step back in time and explore the remains of the stunning Beauly Priory, a location mentioned in the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon. Make sure you visit the historic (and legendary) Campbell's Tweed shop which still makes estate tweed outfits for many of the Highland estates, and visiting royalty!
Day 5: Today we will experience an unforgettable 2 hour catamaran cruise on the Moray Firth for a chance to see the world’s most northerly population of Bottlenose Dolphins, along with other marine wildlife, including seals and otters. (Please note, boat trips are weather permitting and wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed). Should the cruise not be able to take place, an alternative attraction will be included.
This afternoon we head to the spectacular Dunrobin Castle. Tucked away in the Northern Highlands, this impressive French chateâu style castle offers a fascinating peek into the past and is a feast for the senses thanks to its stunning architecture. Dunrobin has a history that spans more than 700 years and was even used as a naval hospital during the First World War.
Overlooking the North Sea and Dornoch Firth, Dunrobin Castle has lots of rooms and hidden chambers to explore. As you walk around the building, you’ll discover rooms tastefully decorated with period pieces of furniture, while the outside gardens inspired by the Palace of Versailles, offer lovely walks through manicured grounds that look across the North Sea.
Day 6: Sadly this morning we depart our hotel and begin our journey south. Our lunch stop today will be Perth. Nestled between two sprawling public parks, the elegant Georgian townhouses, cobbled streets and medieval spires, Perth boasts an array of outstanding monuments, art galleries and museums you can explore, as well as being able to take in the historic atmosphere by wandering the streets and nearby trails. We then continue our journey to Lockerbie and our overnight hotel, the four star Dryfesdale Country House Hotel, arriving late afternoon on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.
Day 7: This morning after breakfast we continue our journey back to Norfolk making suitable stops en route. Upon arrival our door to door taxi service will be waiting to take you home.
