You may wish to visit the castle, or maybe grab lunch in one of the many historic pubs and cafes in the shadows of the mighty castle. (entry to the castle/lunch not included). After our visit we head to our hotel for the next 3 nights, the Doubletree by Hilton St Annes Manor on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.
Day 2: Our first stop today is in delightful Richmond-upon-Thames with a chance to explore. Relax by the river or on Richmond Green – London’s largest town centre open space, or browse the shops and obtain a drink and bite to eat. Later, we continue to Hampton Court where we include entry to the Palace and Gardens. Over 800 years of history can be explored through this magnificent palace whose previous owners include Cardinal Wolsey, Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. Visitors are offered an introductory exhibition, a guide through Tudor kitchens, and the opportunity to see the state apartments and the Wolsey and Georgian rooms. One of the most impressive sights is the Great Hall, England’s last and greatest medieval hall, decorated with sumptuous tapestries.
