Mid Wales is bordered by two stunning National Parks and is also home to rich green landscapes, the unspoilt Ceredigion coastline, the stunning Cambrian Mountains and glorious castles, gardens and railways. Discover some of these locations and attractions in this fantastic packaged tour which is based in a 4 star hotel near the centre of the town of Llandrindod Wells. As its name implies, Llandrindod Wells was historically linked with the health-giving waters which it still provides for visitors today

Day 1:  Following your home taxi collection we make our way to Mid Wales and our hotel for the next four nights, The Metropole Hotel in Llandridnod Wells.

Day 2: This morning we enjoy a scenic drive through the rolling hills and valleys of borderland Wales stopping first in the bustling town of Welshpool. There will be time to explore the narrow lanes, fine Georgian buildings, take a stroll along the canal, or grab a coffee.

From here we enjoy one of the highlights of our tour, a visit to one of the great medieval castles of Wales - Powis Castle. Entry is included to the grand state rooms and gardens.

Built around 1200 as a medieval fortress, the castle sits high on a rock above its world-famous garden. Laid out under the influence of Italian and French styles, the garden is overhung with clipped yews and shelters rare and tender plants and retains original lead statues. The castle itself has been remodelled and embellished over more than 400 years, and reflects the changing ambitions of the Herbert family, who have occupied the Castle since the 1570s. Furnished with decorative fabrics, world-class paintings, furniture, tapestries, and the unique Clive Collection of South Asian objects, the interior reflects the Elizabethan period through to the Edwardian era. (Please note there are steps, some of which are steep, throughout the castle and grounds.)

Day 3: This morning we have a full day excursion to the seaside resort of Aberystwyth. Affectionately known as 'Aber', it is a town with wider horizons than its rural coastline setting and relaxed lifestyle might suggest. As a university town, it's a melting pot of cultures and ideas: museums, archives and galleries reveal a depth of heritage to be discovered. After free time we make our way to the Vale of Rheidol Railway where we catch the afternoon train along the former Great Western line to Devil’s Bridge – this was the last route to operate steam trains for British Rail before private ownership in 1989. A short walk from the terminus brings you to the spectacular Mynach Falls (entry to falls not included). On arrival we will rejoin our coach for the journey back to the hotel.

Day 4: This morning we make the short journey to the Elan Valley to view the amazing Victorian dams which form five magnificent man-made lakes and a 73 square mile wildlife park. We make a short stop at the Visitor Centre to view the exhibition before commencing an hour’s circular tour, accompanied by a knowledgeable ranger to discover some of the hidden secrets of the valley. This afternoon we return to Llandrindod Wells for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 5: This morning sadly we say farewell to our hotel and make our way back to Norfolk where our door to door service will be waiting to take us home.
