Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we make our way to the Bells hotel in Coleford, making suitable stops en route. We will be greeted on our arrival with mince pies and mulled wine while our luggage is delivered to our rooms.
Day 2: Today we follow the twists and turns of the Wye Valley for a coffee break and photo opportunity at the magnificent ruins of Tintern Abbey. Tintern Abbey is a national icon – still standing in roofless splendour on the banks of the River Wye nearly 500 years since its tragic fall from grace. We then continue to the historic walled border town of Chepstow. This medieval town boasts an impressive castle dating from the 11th century which stands on a spectacular spot high on the cliffs above the River Wye and it is considered by some to be the oldest surviving stone castle in Britain. There is also the town gate, the port wall (both late 13th century), the Priory Church of St Mary and the town museum to attract historians and culture buffs. The town also offers a range of coffee shops, pubs and restaurants where you will be able to grab a coffee of bite to eat
Day 3: This morning we cross the border into Wales to the Georgian market town of Monmouth. Nestling in the tranquil lower reaches of the beautiful Wye Valley, Monmouth has been a centre for tourism since 1780. Well known for its iconic 13th century gatehouse bridge, Monmouth has a famous past with its connections to Henry V, Geoffrey of Monmouth and (more recently) Queen, Oasis & Simple Minds who all recorded at Rockfield studios. After lunch we head to Hereford for the chance to look around. Perhaps browse the high street, see the cathedral or visit The Black and White House Museum. We later return to the hotel for this evenings Christmas Dinner followed by this evening’s entertainment.
Day 4: Gloucester is our destination today, and we begin with a guided tour of the medieval cathedral. You will hear about the fascinating world of the monks who used to live here, see how architecture has evolved over the last 1000 years and visit where Harry Potter was filmed. Following our visit, you will have free time to explore Gloucester at your leisure. Located on the River Severn and fantastically situated between the beautiful areas of the Cotswolds and Forest of Dean, Gloucester has a proud industrial past, intertwined with a rich history that dates back to Roman times. No matter what your interests are, you’ll find that Gloucester is the perfect place to spend an afternoon. Stroll through the city centre and explore Gloucester’s many independent shops, or delve into Gloucester’s history at the Museum of Gloucester or the National Waterways Museum.
Day 5: After breakfast we return to Norfolk, making suitable stops en route. Upon arrival our door to door service will be waiting to return you home.
