Day 1: Joining the coach from one of our convenient local joining points, we continue to Weston Super Mare and the Smiths House Hotel for our 4 night stay on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis. On your arrival, you will be served tea/coffee whilst your luggage is delivered to your rooms.
Day 2: (Christmas Day). This morning we head into the Mendip hills. Our first stop is Cheddar, set below the towering Cheddar Gorge Cliffs which have fascinated visitors for centuries. There are gentle riverside walks to be enjoyed from the village, as well as quaint tearooms and, of course, the famous Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company reputed to be the home of Cheddar cheese, where it is still made today. We then continue our journey to Wells, The smallest city in England. See the unique moated Bishop’s Palace and the magnificent Cathedral, which provides the main focal point of the city and dates back to the 13th century. The cobbled streets and medieval architecture are barely changed since the 14th century. After some free time here, we then continue to Glastonbury, famous for its ruined Abbey and the legendary burial place of King Arthur and Guinevere. This evening we sit down to a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, followed by an evening of entertainment.
Day 3: Today is a day of leisure to relax in Weston Super Mare. Nestled on the Somerset coast, with a 2-mile stretch of sandy beach, the level seafront is a delightful stroll from the hotel. you’ll find a magnificent grand pier and plenty of seaside attractions – you’ll soon see why visitors come back time and time again! Nature lovers will be left in awe by the beautiful greenery of the town’s parks and gardens, and if you’re searching for culture and history, there are many museums and galleries to explore, with Weston Museum being a highlight.
Day 4: (New Years Eve) We spend today day in Bath. Renowned for its stunning architecture, this wonderful city has something to see at every turn. Marvel at the stunning Bath Abbey, the last of the great medieval churches of England, with unrivalled views of the city, or be intrigued by the Circus, a masterpiece by John Wood, forming the shape of a key when viewed from the air. The Pump Room is well worth a visit, and there are several museums, including the world’s largest costume museum. Whilst here we have also included a guided tour around the city onboard the coach.
Day 5: We depart for the return to Norfolk making suitable stops en route. Upon arrival we will drop you at your chosen local joining point.
