Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we join our luxury tour coach and head south to Basingstoke making suitable stops enroute.
Day 2: Today we begin with a drive through the Hampshire countryside to Chawton, and the home of Jane Austen. We have included a visit to Jane Austens House, where she wrote or revised all of her novels. You can also see the Chawton House Library where Jane's brother, Edward Knight lived.
After our visit we make the short drive to Alton Station where we join the Watercress Line for a single journey over the ‘Hampshire Alps’ to Arlesford. Alresford is the home of the Hampshire watercress industry, from which the line takes its name.
Day 3: After a leisurely breakfast, we head to Mottisfont House and Gardens. This former priory has an incomparable beauty, and is full of delights and surprises. Discover a wealth of creativity, conflict, love and loss as the house is brought to life through a changing array of exhibitions. 20th century society hostess Maud Russell hosted numerous events here, with guests including The Churchills, Ian Fleming and the Bloomsbury Group. Outside, carpets of autumn flowers and the walled gardens create a feast for the senses.
Later we make our way to Winchester for an afternoon at leisure. Popular for its bustling shopping streets, Winchester is best known for its eleventh century Cathedral and for the Great Hall which for over 700 years has housed the mysterious King Arthur's Round Table.
Day 4: This morning we head the Maritime City of Portsmouth. On arrival we meet our guide for an informative coach tour of the city and the local area. Following the tour, the rest of the day is at leisure to explore at your own pace. Perhaps visit the Historic Dockyard, home of ‘Victory’ and ‘Mary Rose’, enjoy a spot of shopping in Gunwharf quays, or maybe take a trip up the famous Spinnaker Tower. What's more, Portsmouth is a very compact city, and twinned with the island's flat profile - makes it easy to walk wherever you want to go. The day is yours. (attractions today subject to individual choice and payment)
Day 5: Sadly we depart our hotel and make our way back to Norfolk, where we find our door to door taxi service awaiting to return us to our homes.
