Day 1: Following your home taxi collection, we join our luxury tour coach and head south west to Torquay and our hotel for the next 4 nights.
Day 2: Our day begins with a drive to Plymouth where we enjoy a cruise starting at the historic Barbican. We sail across the Plymouth Sound, flanked by the beautiful Devon and Cornish coasts, passing Plymouth Hoe and the famous Drakes Island. We then head for the River Tamar and pull into one of the largest Naval Dockyards in Western Europe – where mighty warships and nuclear submarines await. The skipper will provide commentary throughout. After our cruise, you will enjoy free time at leisure to explore this vibrant waterfront city before we re-join our coach and take a scenic drive across Dartmoor to our hotel.
Day 3: Today is a free day to relax and enjoy the delights of the seaside resort of Torquay. The town has many attractions, cafes and shops to explore. The resort is also famous for its connection with Agatha Christie and has a famous mile long walking trail that takes you to some of the places associated with the famous crime author. With its iconic palm trees, busy harbour, international marina, sandy beach and wonderful array of continental style cafes, restaurants and cocktail bars there is plenty to see and do.
Day 4: Our first port of call today is Paignton where we board the Paignton and Dartmouth Railway for a steam train ride to Kingswear. The railway runs for seven miles in Great Western tradition along the spectacular Torbay coast. The scenery is superb, with seascapes right across Lyme Bay to Portland Bill on clear days.
From Kingswear, we board the ferry as foot passengers to Dartmouth, where upon arrival, you will have free time to explore this delightful maritime town with its narrow streets, overhanging medieval buildings and old quays, as well as taking in its breath-taking views across the Dart estuary.
We then enjoy a circular hour-long cruise along the river and estuary. The cruise takes you to the mouth of the river passing Kingswear & Dartmouth Castles, Dittisham village, Britannia Royal Naval College and Greenway House – home to the late Dame Agatha Christie.
We then retrace our steps, taking the ferry back to Kingswear and making the return train journey from Kingswear to Paignton.
Day 5: Sadly, this morning we say farewell to our hotel as we head back to Norfolk, making suitable stops along the way. Arriving early evening, we re-join our door to door taxi service who will be waiting to return you home.
