From our base in Torquay, we visit Plymouth with a cruise on the River Tamar, enjoy a steam train ride to Dartmouth and a cruise along Dartmouth Estuary.
If you haven't visited for a while, then banish those thoughts of a resort that has seen its hey day.... the best is yet to come. With its iconic palm trees, busy harbour, international marina, sandy beach and wonderful array of continental style cafes, restaurants and cocktail bars, the scene is set for the perfect Devon seaside holiday.
Day 1: Following your home taxi collection, you will join our luxury tour coach and we will head to Torquay and our hotel for the next 4 nights, the Livermead Cliff Hotel, arriving late afternoon on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: Our day begins with a drive to Plymouth where we enjoy a cruise from the historic Barbican. We sail across the Plymouth Sound, flanked by the beautiful Devon and Cornish coasts, passing Plymouth Hoe and the famous Drakes Island. We then head for the River Tamar and pull into one of the largest Naval Dockyards in Western Europe – where mighty warships and nuclear submarines await. The skipper provides commentary throughout. After our cruise, there will be time to explore this vibrant waterfront city before the journey back across Dartmoor to our hotel.
Day 3: Today is a free day to relax and enjoy the delights of the seaside resort of Torquay. The town has many attractions, cafes and shops to explore. The resort is also famous for its connection with Agatha Christie and has a famous mile-walking trail that takes you to some of the places associated with the famous crime author. Be sure to stroll around Torquay’s bustling picturesque harbour, or why not take a boat trip to enjoy the view from a different perspective? (fare not included).
Day 4: We journey to Paignton this morning to board the Paignton and Dartmouth Railway for a steam train ride to Kingswear. The journey offers spectacular views out to sea and over the River Dart. From here we board the ferry to Dartmouth. There will be free time to explore this seaside town, before taking a circular hour-long cruise along the river and estuary. We then retrace our steps, taking the ferry back to Kingswear and return train from Kingswear to Paignton.
Day 5: After breakfast, we depart Torquay for our return journey back to Norfolk making suitable stops en route. Upon arrival our door to door service will be waiting to take you home.
